Museums and Galleries - Eastbourne has an interesting variety of museums and galleries. Some are owned by Eastbourne Borough Council, while others are privately owned. Don't miss the Towner, Eastbourne's award-winning new gallery and art museum. Towner presents major
exhibitions of contemporary and historic art alongside changing displays
from the renowned Towner Collection.
Redoubt Fortress & Military Museum -Welcome to the Redoubt Fortress & Military Museum Built in the early 1800s, the Redoubt has defended the Eastbourne coast for nearly 200 years. Today this magnificent building provides the perfect setting for the rich military collections of The Royal Sussex Regiment, The Queen's Royal Irish Hussars and the Sussex Combined Services.
Bandstand Eastbourne's first bandstand was built in 1893 and a
Municipal Orchestra was formed in 1899. There is a commemorative plaque
at the rear of the current Bandstand in memory of Eastbourne bandsman
John Wesley Woodward, who was one of those playing on the Titanic when
it sank on April 15 1912. The current Bandstand was built in 1935 and
cost £28,000, engineered by Leslie Rosevere.

Lewis Bonfire 2014 - Wednesday November 5th. The largest bonfire celebration and procession in the UK.
Beachy Head Marathon - Sunday 25th October 2014 - Starts 9am The Beachy Head Marathon is one the biggest off-road
marathons in the UK. Formerly known as the Seven Sisters Marathon, it
is popular for its scenic and challenging route through the South Downs
countryside. Great for runners, joggers or walkers looking to get fit.
Magnificent Motors
Magnificent Motors returns to Princes Park from Saturday 3rd to Sunday 4th May 2014. With 25,000+ visitors flocking to the show in 2012, it has become
established as one of the biggest FREE motoring spectaculars on the
South Coast. More than 500 vintage and classic cars, motorbikes, buses, steam
traction engines, commercial and military vehicles displayed on
Eastbourne's elegant promenade and seafront. Other attractions included a French Market and funfair rides plus the seafront cavalcade. The event is organised by Eastbourne Borough Council, in partnership
with Eastbourne Historic Vehicle Club, East Sussex Omnibus Society plus
a variety of other historic transport groups.
AEGON International Tennis Championships in Eastbourne Devonshire Park, Eastbourne: 14th - 21st June 2014 The AEGON International returned to
Eastbourne in June 2013 with both mens and ladies world class
tennis. 2013's event saw the highest attendance numbers ever!

Eastbourne Lammas Festival - dates to be confirmed for 2014 An extravaganza of folk music and morris dancing including a Carnival parade with traditional Giants. Held every August around Eastbourne seafront and town centre; with live music and stalls all day plus a traditional barn dance (céilidh) for all.
Eastbourne's Airbourne Air Show - 14th to 17th August 2014 The dates for Eastbourne's Air Show have been confirmed for 2014. Bring your family and friends along to enjoy another year of military fast jets, helicopters, parachutists and incredible displays from aerobatics teams, including the Red Arrows.
Eastbourne Beer Festival - 9th - 11th October 2014 The biggest beer festival in East Sussex is held every October at the Winter Gardens. Beers, Ales, Wine and Ciders from around the world with food tastings and daily entertainment.
Eastbourne 999 Display (awaiting confirmed dates for 2014) The
999 display, which will be held on the Western Lawns and Wish Tower
Slopes in July in Eastbourne is now the largest show of its kind in the UK.
The
event is managed by an organising committee from the local emergency services
representing:
Sussex Police East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service South East Coast Ambulance Service Maritime and Coastguard Agency the RNLI (Royal National Lifeboat Institution)
represented by Eastbourne Lifeboats
The
aim of the event is to raise awareness of the services that all these groups
provide and to provide a fun and interactive day out for all the family.
Walks - The Eastbourne Downland is a wonderful environment for walking and rambling and many areas are open access, free for the public to explore. There are four farms - Bullock Down Farm, Black Robin Farm, Chalk Farm and Cornish Farm - where access is restricted but there are footpaths and bridleways to guide walkers through these areas. The Eastbourne Downland can be accessed by a coastal footpath or the inland bridleway.
